Pinar Del Rio-Train Station

I find place that people meet fascinating and train stations are just that...
Waiting in Cuba is a national epidemic...you'll see lines everywhere. Cubans are very patient and waiting is a way of life.
They are waiting for a lot of "cambio".

No one ever waits on the Los Angeles Freeway, Roy? Of course there's a lot of waiting here in Cuba, what else is new?

But what is different about Cuba is one waits for everything...nothing is readily available...you wait to enter a store...unless your are a tourist/foreigner and you flash your passport...so much time is wasted waiting. At least here on the freeways we have a car...a choice of Ac or fresh air...with satellite radio a choice of hundreds of radio stations...that are privately owned. When I share my images and comment...I descibe what I witnessed because there are many that are not aware of the necessities that exist in Cuba...the lack of freedom...the lack of choice in life and living. One can comment but few can show images like these that are a glimpse of reality for the Cuban people.

Walter Lippmann, if he's actually in Cuba, will never have to wait, because he is a foreigner. He can walk up to any $$ store and flash his passport and cut through a line of WAITING Cubans. It must feel great, Walter, to be treated by the Other as a king. It must feel great to be the new Conquistador.

In all respect to Walter, he has the right to his opinions...I have never met him personally...I am sure that in Cuba his is a life of privilege...he has the funds, passport and very possibly the right kind of friends. But once he crosses the line...he'll be persona non grata. As I encourage all comments in this Blog...he has yet to feature me on his site. I wonder what would happen if those enamored with his site were to see what I see?
